Pronunciation is approximate and written for English speakers; accents vary, so ask your relatives how they say them.
Two things worth knowing
- Khodkar literally means "self-writer", the usual word for a ballpoint pen.
- Daftar can mean a notebook and also an office, so context decides.
Easy ways to practise
- Homework time: name each object you pick up, "ketab, medad, daftar", and let the child repeat.
- Pack the bag: say each item as it goes into the kif.
- Video call: a grandparent asks, in Persian, what the child did at madreseh today.
