Azizan lets family members record themselves reading children's stories, page by page, so the recording lands on a child's shelf. This Privacy Policy says in plain language what leaves your phone, why, where it is kept, who can see it and how it is deleted.
In short
The reader's recorded video, with a few small details, is kept in our storage so the family can watch it.
Anyone who has the family's link can watch the recordings. Share it only with people you trust.
No ads, no analytics, no cookies, no tracking. We do not sell data.
"Delete all recordings and data" in the app, or one email, really deletes everything.
On the website you may optionally leave your email to hear about the launch; it is optional and you can have it deleted at any time.
Who we are
Azizan is built and run by its founder, Aida Khadivi Fard, as an individual developer, who is responsible for the information this policy describes. Postal address: 2311 Beta Ave, Burnaby, BC V5C 0M1, Canada. For any privacy question, request or complaint, write to myawsomeapplications@gmail.com. We read and answer that mailbox ourselves.
Who this is for
Azizan is for families with children aged 2 to 8. Adults set up and use the app: parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Children watch the stories and recordings; the app asks children for nothing.
What leaves your phone
The recording. When you record a story and send it, the video (the reader's face and voice, and anyone else in the frame) is uploaded to our storage. With it go: the reader's name and relationship (for example "Grandma Maryam"), the story's name, the time it was sent, a random household code and a random child code. The codes are not made from any personal information; they only keep one family's recordings together.
The invite link. When you invite someone, the child's first name (in a co-parent link, the first names of all the children you added), your name, the guest's relationship, the child code and the household code are written inside the link itself. You send the link yourself through your own messaging app, so that app sees the link too. When the guest opens it, the link's address reaches our web server; we do not store it.
Create. If you use the Create feature, your voice note (to turn it into text) and the text you approve (to make a picture) are sent from our server to the providers named below. We do not keep the voice note, the text or the picture; the picture stays on your phone.
Technical connection data. Like any website, our host sees your device's IP address in order to deliver pages and videos. We use it only to deliver them, do not keep it in our own storage, and do not link it to recordings.
The app has no accounts, passwords or phone numbers, and never asks for them. The only personal detail we may collect is an email address, and only if you choose to leave it on our website (see "The optional waitlist email").
The optional waitlist email
On the azizan website there is a small box where you can leave your email so we can tell you when the full app and the app-store version are ready. This is entirely optional: the app already works in your browser without it, and no email is needed to use it.
We keep your email only if you choose to enter it; we collect nothing else with it and do not store your IP address.
We use your email only for this: to tell you about azizan's launch and updates. It is used for nothing else.
Your email is stored on our own server (Cloudflare R2 storage, the same place as the recordings); we do not use a third-party form or service. A copy is also sent to the azizan owner's own Telegram so she sees new sign-ups, so Telegram sees that message too.
We never sell your email or give it to anyone else.
We keep it until we have told you about the launch; you can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing myawsomeapplications@gmail.com.
What stays on your phone only
Your photo, the readers' photos, your children's names, ages and photos, your settings and a local copy of the videos stay in this phone's storage and are not sent to us (except a child's first name inside an invite link, as above). The face filters used while recording also run on the phone itself.
Why we use it, and on what basis
Only to make the app work: so a recording reaches the child's shelf, shows up on the family's phones, the shelf can say who read which story, and Create can turn your voice into text and a picture. There is no other use.
For people covered by the EU or UK GDPR: our legal basis is that this processing is the service you ask the app to provide. If a child can be seen or heard in a recording, the child's parent or guardian decides whether it is sent, and can delete it at any time. We do not use the data for automated decisions about anyone or for profiling. You are not required to provide any of it; without sending a recording, it simply does not reach the rest of the family.
Who receives data
Your own family: anyone who has the family's link or household code (see the next section).
Cloudflare: our site and service run on Cloudflare, and the videos and shelf index are stored in Cloudflare's storage (R2) on our account. Cloudflare processes this data for us, not for itself.
Soniox, in Create only: the voice note is sent to Soniox to be turned into text. Afterwards we ask Soniox to delete the file; if that request fails for any reason, Soniox deletes it automatically within 30 days. Soniox states that it does not train its models on customer audio or transcripts.
Google (Gemini), in Create only: the text you approve is sent to Google to make the picture. Under its own terms Google may keep it for a period of time, so please do not put full names, addresses or other personal details in that text.
Story recordings are never sent to Soniox or Google. These services may use servers outside your country, including in the United States. We give data to no one else, unless the law requires it.
Who can see the recordings
Anyone who has that family's invite link or household code can watch the recordings on that shelf; there is no password. There is no public page, public feed or search, so strangers cannot find recordings. But if a link is forwarded, the person who receives it can watch too, so share links only with people you trust. We do not watch the videos; we access the files only if needed to fix a technical problem, or if you ask us to.
Security
All connections between the app and our server are encrypted (HTTPS). Household codes and recording codes are long and random so they are hard to guess. Service keys live only on the server, not in the app. Still, no system is risk-free, and because watching a shelf depends only on having its link, keeping the link private is its most important lock. If you think your family's link has reached the wrong person, write to myawsomeapplications@gmail.com.
What we do not do
No advertising, and no ad or analytics SDK in the app or on the site. No cookies.
No tracking across apps or websites. We do not collect advertising IDs, device identifiers, location, contacts or phone numbers.
No selling of your data.
No AI training on your recordings, no synthetic voices, and no use of faces or voices to identify anyone.
The camera and microphone are on only while you yourself are recording.
Children
Azizan does not collect information directly from children and asks them nothing. What the app knows about a child is entered by an adult in the family, and most of it stays on the phone. The things about a child that do leave the phone are:
the random child code, next to each recording;
the child's first name, inside an invite link an adult sends;
the child's image or voice, only if the child is in the frame of a recording. An adult starts and sends every recording; if you do not want a child in a sent recording, keep them out of the frame;
if a child's voice is captured in a Create voice note, it is used only to turn it into text and is deleted straight after, as described above.
This information is used only for the purposes on this page and is given to no one except the providers named above. A parent or guardian can at any time review the family's recordings and information (in "My library", «کتابخانهی من»), get a copy, delete all of it, or stop further collection: send no new recordings and use Delete all recordings and data, or write to myawsomeapplications@gmail.com. If you believe a child's information reached us without a parent's permission, write to us and we will delete it.
How long we keep it
Recordings and the shelf index: for as long as the family keeps them. The shelf exists so a child can hear their family's voices years later, so recordings do not expire on their own. They are deleted when the guardian uses Delete all recordings and data in the app, or asks by email.
Create voice notes and text: we do not keep them. What the providers keep is described under "Who receives data".
Invite-link addresses and IP addresses: we do not keep them in our own storage.
Deleting your data
Deletion is real deletion: the video file is removed from storage and its entry is removed from the shelf index. We do not just mark it "hidden", and we make no backup copies of recordings.
In the app: Settings («تنظیمات») → Delete all recordings and data («حذفِ همهی ضبطها و اطلاعات»). Every recording of the family is deleted from the server right away, then from this phone. The button is shown to the person who added the child to the app, because the shelf is shared by the whole family.
By email: to delete one specific recording, or if you no longer have the app, write to myawsomeapplications@gmail.com and include one of your family's invite links (one you sent or received). The household code is inside that link, and without it we cannot find the shelf. We delete within 30 days and confirm.
Write to the same address to get a copy of your family's recordings or to correct information. If you are in the EU, the UK or Canada, you have the right to access, correct or delete your information, get a copy of it, and object to or restrict its use. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to your country's data protection authority (in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, priv.gc.ca).
Changes to this policy
If anything in the app changes in a way that affects your data, we update this page and the date at the top first. If we ever want to use data in a new way not described here, we will say so in the app before we do.
